The list recognizes colleges and universities across the country that “have strong traditional academic foundations based on student-instructor access, graduation rates and instructor credentials” and “excel at educating distance learners while offering robust career and financial support,” according to U.S. News.

“SUNY Oneonta is proud to be recognized among the top 100 best online Master’s in Education Programs,” says Dr. Gabriel Aquino, Dean of Graduate Studies at SUNY Oneonta. “We hope that the flexibility of our offerings makes it easier for those interested in extending their professional teaching certifications.”

“With 135 years of experience preparing teachers, our institution’s history is aligned with education trends,” says Dr. Mark Davies, Dean, School of Education, Human Ecology, and Sports Studies at SUNY Oneonta. “Now we are reaching a broader student audience than ever with distance learning.”

SUNY Oneonta’s online Literacy Education and Educational Technology Specialist MS.Ed. programs offer a flexible, convenient and affordable path toward achieving New York State professional teaching certification. Each program has three start terms with rolling admissions, so students can apply any time and start in spring, summer or fall. Classes are asynchronous, so students can work at their own pace. Both programs can be completed in as little as one year of full-time study. The flexible, online format is ideal for working teachers, who can enroll part-time and apply the skills they learn in their own classrooms.

Education is SUNY Oneonta’s oldest academic program, and one of its largest. The university offers 25 educator preparation programs, including bachelor’s degrees in early childhood, elementary and secondary education. At the graduate level, SUNY Oneonta offers in-person master’s degree programs in school counseling and special education, online master’s degree programs in literacy education and educational technology, and online certificate programs in bilingual education and school counseling.

SUNY Oneonta’s education programs have been continuously accredited since 2000 and recently earned accreditation by the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation.
