Three SUNY Oneonta men's soccer players--seniors Kevin Hoff, Cory Santangelo and Austin Hughes--have been selected to represent the United States as part of a USA D-3 Select Soccer Team that will tour Brazil starting next week. In addition, Red Dragons men's soccer Coach Iain Byrne will serve as the head coach of the men's team.
"I am really proud of these three players that will be representing Oneonta and the USA on this trip," said Byrne. "This is a richly deserved honor after their performances that has propelled our team to two Final Fours and a Sweet Sixteen appearance in their first three seasons at Oneonta. This tour promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience."
Hoff started 19 of the 20 games he played last fall and posted three goals including two against Eastern University in the NCAA tournament second round. He was named to the All-SUNYAC second team.
Santangelo started 17 of 19 games last fall and registered four goals and two assists. He was named to the SUNYAC All-Conference third team.
