Earn a master’s degree online in as little as one year at SUNY Oneonta!
Our 36-credit, online, project-based M.S.-Nutrition and Dietetics Program is designed specifically for RDs/RDNs. You will receive 12 credit hours of prior learning and then be able to complete the remaining eight courses (24 credits) online in one year (full time) or two to six years (part-time).
How to Apply
- Submit a completed graduate application with a non-refundable $50 fee
- Submit all official undergraduate transcripts
- Provide a copy of your RD/RDN registration card or CDR registration certificate
- Provide two letters of recommendation and
- Include a letter of application that addresses the following:
- reason(s) for applying, evidence of your personal and professional growth and achievement, evidence of having developed the ability to assume considerable responsibility for your own learning, career objectives, previous experience with distance learning and/or independent learning, and an analysis of your strengths and weaknesses that are relevant to completing this online M.S. – Nutrition and Dietetics Program.

Admission Criteria
We are looking for highly motivated, self-directed RDs/RDNs who are interested in earning a master’s degree and can thrive in our online environment. Criteria include:
- minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0
- demonstrated evidence of ability to take responsibility for your own learning in an online program
The GRE exam is not required.
Cost
Our program is cost-effective and very affordable! Cost breakdown (2019-20 rates):
- Non-refundable application fee of $50 (waived for SUNY Oneonta alumni)
- $471/credit hour (NY state residents) OR $565/credit hour (out-of-state residents)
- Fee of $26.20/credit hour

Our Faculty
Our dietetics program faculty have a wide range of professional experience and expertise, with specialties including: body composition, calcium and iron metabolism, clinical nutrition, community nutrition, food service and clinical management, food service marketing, hydration and cognition, lipid metabolism, molecular nutrition, restaurant and commercial kitchen management, and vegetarian nutrition.
