Fall 2020 Plan

SUNY Oneonta will welcome students back to campus this August! SUNY and the State of New York have approved our plan for fall 2020 on July 1.

Our plan aims carry out the college’s mission — to nurture a community where students grow intellectually, thrive socially and live purposefully - while remaining vigilant against COVID-19. That will mean limiting person-to-person contact and in-person gatherings wherever possible, changing the college calendar, and increasing cleaning, disinfecting and monitoring measures campus-wide.

About Orientation

Congratulations and welcome to SUNY Oneonta!

At orientation, new students learn about SUNY Oneonta’s academic and behavioral expectations, college values, traditions and social opportunities; as well as connecting with other new students, returning students, faculty and staff members.

SUNY Oneonta has a three-part orientation process:

All new students are required to complete the online orientation. You'll receive a message in your SUNY Oneonta email with a link to the online orientation. Freshmen should complete this by Aug. 5. Transfers should complete it prior to "meeting" (on the phone or via email) with their temporary summer faculty advisor (July 10-August 2).

You will also attend a mandatory in-person orientation program at the beginning of each semester, between move-in day and the first day of classes. During the in-person orientation, you'll attend informational sessions, interact with peers, and have the opportunity to connect with faculty from your major, your area of interest and/or your minor.

Fall 2020 Orientation Dates

  • Freshman/First Year Students: August 20-22 (all days are mandatory)
  • Transfer Students: August 22 (mandatory)

Once the orientation schedules are finalized, they will be posted on this page.

The third piece involves programming and support for new students during the first few weeks of the semester. We know that you will have questions during your transition to college life. The Office of New Student Services is here to help you find answers!

We look forward to meeting you at orientation and at the many different events and activities sponsored by the New Student Services team!
