Accreditation

SUNY Oneonta is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.

The Human Ecology Department has professional accreditation from the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.

The M.S.-Nutrition and Dietetics Program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) as an accredited demonstration program under the Future Education Model Accreditation Standards for Graduate Degree Programs.

ACEND (Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics) is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Commission on Recognition of Postsecondary Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education. Program Mission

Our program prepares graduates for evidence-based practice as entry-level registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) to meet our nation's health-related challenges.

Program Goals

The two goals of the M.S.-Nutrition and Dietetics Program are revised every five years to reflect the most current ACEND Accreditation Standards and are compatible with the mission of SUNY Oneonta.

Goal 1: To prepare graduates who will be competent, entry-level registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs).

  • At least 90% of program graduates take the CDR credentialing exam for dietitian nutritionists within 12 months of program completion.
  • The program’s one-year pass rate (graduates who pass the registration exam within 1 year of first attempt) on the CDR credentialing exam for dietitian nutritionists is at least 80%.
  • At least 80% of students complete program requirements within 18 months (150% of the program length).
  • Of graduates who seek employment, at least 80% are employed in nutrition and dietetics or related fields within 12 months of program completion.
  • 80% of employers who respond to the employer survey agree or strongly agree that program graduate(s) are prepared for entry-level practice.

Goal 2: To prepare graduates who can think critically and work collaboratively to meet our nation’s health-related challenges.

  • At least 85% of program graduates that respond to the alumni survey will indicate that they agree or strongly agree that the program prepared them to think critically.
  • At least 85% of program graduates that respond to the alumni survey will indicate that they agree or strongly agree that the program prepared them to work collaboratively.
