Why SUNY Oneonta?
I was stuck on schools for a long time, and I visited every possible place I could think of that was close to me. And then I came here, and it just felt homey and even after moving in, the dorms felt super homey. I felt at place here and I met all my friends right away. It’s easy to make friends here. I love it.
Intramural soccer, peer tutor, volunteer at animal shelter off-campus, research with professor
Going to Guatemala over the summer. I did a two-week study abroad in Guatemala with Tracy Allen, and it was the best two weeks of my life! It was so much fun, and I learned so much. All my best friends this year went on that trip, and we’re still super close. I didn’t know anyone going in.
Plans, Goals, Dreams
I came into school thinking I wanted to do pre-vet, but I’m trying to decide. I’ve been thinking of doing something with genetic counseling or forensic analysis. I’m still in the process of deciding. I feel like the more classes I take, the more I find out I like stuff, so now I’m more stuck! I like everything, which doesn’t help. I have a bunch of different directions I could go.
I love genetics. But also Anthropology of Dying, which I’m in right now. It’s totally different than I would have thought. It has given me a whole new outlook on dying and the death process. I never thought a class would exist for that. So that was definitely really cool and different than most classes you could take.
