Why SUNY Oneonta?
I visited Oneonta and liked the campus. It looked environmentally friendly, so I decided to come here.
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Students of Color Coalition, Africana and Latino Studies Club
Meeting new people of different backgrounds. A lot of stuff with my fraternity -- throwing programs for the community and community service, cleaning up the dining halls, going around the community on Halloween and collecting canned goods. When I joined my fraternity, I knew I had found some really good friends.
What I’ll Remember in 20 Years
With my major, I’ve learned so much about children, their families and cultures and what affects them. If you see yourself doing something like that, Child and Family Studies is the major for you. It’s very specific. You have to do an internship to graduate, and I think that’s good to get out into the field and see if you like it. I’m doing an internship right now with the Family Services Association in Oneonta, and I’ve learned so much.
Plans, Goals, Dreams
After graduation, I want to apply to agencies that work with at-risk teens, so I could be a mentor and help them. My dream job would be to be a high school counselor in the Bronx.
