Why SUNY Oneonta?
I chose Oneonta because I definitely felt most at home here. I looked at many other colleges, and this was the one that definitely spoke to me. As soon as I came on the campus, I was like, ‘This is my home.’ And I knew a lot of friends from home that were coming here, so that definitely made the transition easier for me.
Sigma Gamma Phi
Definitely making new friends. Joining Sigma Gamma Phi has opened my eyes to so many new opportunities. I have gotten involved in volunteer work that is so rewarding and I've made friendships that are going to last a lifetime. And then there’s the friends I’ve made on my own, too. I live in a suite right now, and we've made so many memories and had so much fun.
About My Major
I’m in a lot of computer classes, and I like how it's all individual. Like, I can just do my own thing, but the teachers are still very helpful. They guide me in the right direction, and I feel like I'm learning a lot from them that will be good for the future.
What I’ll Remember in 20 Years
I'm definitely going to remember going to Yellow Deli almost every weekend and making new memories with my friends. When I came here, it seemed like a big college, but then once you're here it seems a lot smaller. I feel like wherever I go, I know somebody, and that's a really welcoming and comforting feeling. Also volunteering. One of the things we do as a sorority is volunteer at the nursing home – we play bingo there. And it brings me such joy knowing that that's the highlight of the residents’ day.
Plans, Goals, Dreams
I'm really into graphic design. That's what I want to do – I want to do web design and marketing. My dream job would to be to work for BuzzFeed and design for them, maybe run their social media. I'm also into media studies and thinking about double majoring in that.
