Why SUNY Oneonta?
I chose Oneonta for a number of reasons. One, my dad went here. I'll graduate 30 years after he graduated, so I think that's really cool and I just felt a connection to it. But when I visited Oneonta – I know it's so corny and I know a lot of kids say it, but it's true – it felt like home. It just felt like a place where I could see myself spending the next four years taking classes, and this is home now. This is going to be my home for the next four years. I'm going to be spending more time here than in my own home and in my own bed.
WIRE-TV, hall government, Night Host
Really the people and the connections that I made through EOP Summer Academy, and even when I got here in the fall, it was a really cool experience coming in and already knowing the campus really well and knowing a lot of people. I knew people from Academic Advisement and I knew a lot of staff from the summer, so that was really cool to be used to things already my first semester. Pass Through the Pillars was also really cool!
About My Major
What I like about my major is how involved I was able to be from the beginning. Being on WIRE-TV as a freshman, I'm already on two episodes. It’s given me a lot of exposure already, and I haven't even been here that long. There’s so much to do, and I’m loving it!
What I’ll Remember in 20 Years
I really think the people – the relationships that we make – are the things that last. My dad’s best friend he met here. They were in the same fraternity. He was my dad’s best man at his wedding.
Plans, Goals, Dreams
I want to be an anchor on a news station. I've always had an interest in news. I used to be 12 years old watching CNN and “The Today Show.” And I used to watch little clips on YouTube of Bryant Gumbel and different anchors. Those were my inspirations. And now I’m a sports reporter on WIRE-TV!
