Why SUNY Oneonta?
This is my first semester here at SUNY Oneonta. Transferring from Binghamton University to SUNY Oneonta was one of the best decisions I could have made for my career path. I love the smaller class sizes and the discussion-based lectures. Having a smaller campus really allows for interactive lectures, which better helps me understand and retain the material. The Child and Family Studies program here prepares graduates to enter the field after graduating.
Here, you have so many opportunities in the field before you even graduate to get hands-on experience, which I really like. I mentored at Riverside Elementary, which was perfect because I want to work with at-risk youth, and that’s exactly what I was doing. I’m getting the opportunity to go work with children early on.
What I’ll Remember in 20 Years
My classes with Dr. Karen Joest. Her classes should be mandatory for everyone to take.
Plans, Goals, Dreams
I’m going to go to grad school for social work, and I would like to get my Ph.D. one day to work with college students as a professor. I’d love to open a boys and girls club and offer afterschool activities for children. That would be amazing. My whole thing is just helping people.
