Why SUNY Oneonta
It is just such a well-rounded school. With science, math, communications, arts – there are just so many different options. One of the main reasons I chose to come here is because I could study the weather as well as learn how to broadcast and film. Besides my mass communication major, I'm doing a minor in earth science.
I was the type of kid that didn’t play with Barbies. I played weather station, and set up a whole news station in my bedroom. When I saw that if I came here, I could make that come to life, I knew this was the right place for me.
Wire TV, Knit Witts, Meteorology Club, Resident Advisor for Golding Hall
Steven McIntosh (adjunct lecturer) was the reason I switched to Mass Communication. He’s very hands-on with his teaching, which helps you understand the material. He wants you to do well and wants to see you prosper. He takes an interest in your life, as well. WIRE TV, the school’s student-run television station, is another wonderful experience. It’s making my dreams come true.
Plans, Goals, Dreams
I would like to achieve an internship with one of my local news stations. It would be great to become a producer of one of the WIRE TV shows or just become more involved. I want to make sure I leave a good mark on this campus. My dream job would be to work as a meteorologist in New York City with the National Weather Service or be on Good Morning America.
