Why SUNY Oneonta?

Well, originally I actually didn't want to go to school at all, I wanted to join the military. But then I went to my guidance counselor and started talking about my options. I was a track athlete in high school, so I always thought about doing track in college, too. So I did a tour of all the SUNY schools. Originally I actually didn't even look at Oneonta, but then one of my friends told me to check it out, and I instantly fell in love with it when I came here.

My Activities

Track and field, Criminal Justice Club, EMT for the Oneonta State Emergency Squad (OSES)

Best Experiences

Probably last year at SUNYACs (the State University of New York Athletic Conference). I was SUNYAC champ in long jump, and I ended up going to the NCAAs in Alabama. The school gave me the opportunity to go down there, paid for the hotel and everything, so that was very cool. Probably one of my greatest accomplishments.

About My Major

I'm a dual major in Criminal Justice and Communication Studies. For Criminal Justice, I just like the fact that a lot of the professors here have previous background in law enforcement, so that's something that will actually help me with my career. Communications I just added on because I had a little bit extra time, so I thought I might as well learn how to communicate with people since that's a big part of my career.

Plans, Goals, Dreams

Well right now I'm going through the NYPD process, so I'm hoping everything goes right with that. I’ve always wanted to be in law enforcement.

What I’ll Remember in 20 Years

Being SUNYAC champ and just the friends I’ve made through OSES and through my team, and through taking classes together. Honestly just the atmosphere here – everybody here is so nice, and the landscape is just amazing.
