Why SUNY Oneonta?
I came here for a conference the summer before my senior year of high school and got to explore the campus. I’m from the Binghamton area, so Oneonta reminded me of home. The distance was perfect, too – it’s far enough where I can have my independence but still go home for the weekend if I want to.
Compared to some schools, you really get to know your professors here and they get to know you. I refer to this place as home even though it isn’t really because it just gives that vibe. I feel like, no matter how far away from your actual home you are, you can find something that reminds you of home here. There’s something for everybody.
What I’ll Remember in 20 Years
I had a really good experience at orientation. Once I started going to school here, I realized how many cool events and activities are going on all the time. I really love going to poetry slams. They talk about a lot of personal stuff, and I think it’s awesome that they do that.
Plans, Goals, Dreams
The Child and Family Studies program here is unique. I think the fact that I can leave in four years with two bachelor’s degrees is awesome. Someday, I hope to work with children in crisis and families and be able to help them out.
