Why SUNY Oneonta?

The location – not too far from home, and the transportation system is very convenient, with the bus coming regularly to take you downtown or Southside whenever you need. Also the campus size – It wasn't too big and it wasn't too small. I didn't want to go to a school where I felt like I could meet everyone in one week, but also nothing too big where you're just a number. You’re not just a number at Oneonta. Also the EOP program. I felt like the program here was very strong and stood out to me. Also with me being a student athlete, being recruited for the track team was another good thing. There were a lot of things that impacted my decision to come here!

About My Major

Being a psychology major, you're not limited to anything. There's a lot that you can do. I came in as a biology major at first, and as soon as I took my Intro to Psych class, it drew me in. That's all I needed, and it was just amazing to learn different things and then actually apply that knowledge to real life. Everyone should take a psychology class. Your mind and your world will be blown. But also in the Psychology Department there are a lot of caring professors who want to help you and guide you to where you want to be. I enjoy my psychology classes because I always come out learning new things and applying them to the real world.

Best Experiences

I can say one of my favorite experiences here was when Sean Paul came for the fall concert. It was just so fun! It was my first concert here, and I actually had the opportunity to meet Sean Paul. Meeting him and going to the concert was a lot of fun. We have so many special programs and activities here. I just like how the Student Activities Council tries to do things for the students and different events. I find that very unique and different.

What I’ll Remember in 20 Years

Being president of the Xclusive Dance Crew. We became an official club last year. I heard about it through my EOP friends and joined freshman year. So I feel like that was a good thing for me to just look into as soon as I came here, and it was great. And now that I'm president of it, I feel like that's just a huge responsibility and I'm honored to actually have that.

Plans, Goals, Dreams

My dream job is to be an Occupational Therapist. What I want to focus on is working with newborn babies or premature babies because I find that field to be newly developed and I just want to learn more about it. Over the summer when I was volunteering at Albany Med, I found out that they were doing OT stuff with babies, and I feel like that's right up my alley!
