Why SUNY Oneonta?
My family moved all the way from Togo in Africa to the Bronx in 2011. That’s one of the reasons I wanted to come to Oneonta, because the people I see in the Bronx are more like what I’ve seen in Africa. I wanted to come to a different environment and get used to some stuff I’ve never seen before.
I had an interview for the school, so I came here and had the opportunity to tour the campus. I really liked the environment and the people I talked to. I went to the EOP office, and I immediately felt a connection and thought, “You know what? This just feels like where I belong.” It just felt like home to me.
Orientation Leader, RA for three semesters, president of International Student Organization
I love that I get to go places and be challenged. We took a trip to the United Nations for Model UN, and that was one of my favorite classes from the Political Sciences Department. My favorite class I'm taking now actually is Fed Challenge. It’s very challenging, but every bit of what I'm doing is where I see myself in the future, and doing it makes me happy.
What I’ll Remember in 20 Years
Getting together with friends on the weekends and just talking and dancing. Just basically having people over and forgetting about homework for a little bit. I met most of my friends through EOP during the Summer Academy program.
Plans, Goals, Dreams
My dream job is to be a financial analyst -- looking at data and analyzing the company investments, future investments and forecasts of the economy. I want to spend the summer traveling and then go to Africa. And, after a few years of working, I would like to go to an MBA program.
