SUNY Oneonta welcomes community members of all ages to take classes on our campus.
We offer a variety of non-credit courses each semester. These courses do not require an application for admission and have a simple registration process. You can also apply to audit a course, which means you’ll be able to sit in on a class (space permitting) without formally registering for credit.
If you want to take a class for credit, you can apply for admission as a non-degree student. Many of our non-degree students are pre-matriculated students taking courses with the goal of eventually applying for admission to SUNY Oneonta or another college, or students from the area who already attend another college but want to take some classes in Oneonta over the summer or during a semester off to transfer back to their home institutions.
We also offer opportunities for area high school students who want to get a headstart on college courses. Rising high school seniors who have completed or are in the process of completing their Regent's requirements and have the recommendation of their guidance counselor and principal can apply to take a course as a non-degree student. Students who are planning to attend any SUNY school can take our general education courses and transfer them to fulfill the general education requirement at another SUNY school. This is also a chance to take a college-level course in an area you are thinking of majoring in.
