After five spirited rounds and thousands of votes cast, SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras announced Thursday that Red is officially the winner of SUNY’s 2021 Mascot Madness competition and "New York's favorite college mascot!"
Twenty-six fashion students at SUNY Oneonta are acquiring real-world industry knowledge thanks to an experiential learning project with leading sportswear brand PUMA. SUNY Oneonta alumnus Scott Saltzman ’86, PUMA’s national sales manager, has reconnected with his alma mater to inspire fashion and textile majors by assisting with a class project based on PUMA’s Fall 2021 product release.
SUNY Oneonta was pleased to host U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer for a meeting with community leaders on Wednesday, March 31. The senator met with Acting President Dennis Craig, Hartwick College President Margaret Drugovich, City of Oneonta Mayor Gary Herzig and Otsego County Board of Representatives Chair David Bliss to discuss priorities and opportunities for improvement in our region. 
After a semifinal round that was neck and neck until the very end Friday, SUNY Oneonta’s beloved dragon mascot, Red, will advance to the final round of SUNY’s annual Mascot Madness competition, where students, alumni and fans vote to determine New York’s favorite college mascot.
More than 50 SUNY Oneonta students have joined forces in an effort to spread the word about the availability of COVID vaccinations to communities across Otsego County. 
 
The students, recognizing the need for additional outreach in areas where internet access isn’t readily available, rallied together to distribute flyers to those who may need assistance with registering for a vaccine. The flyers share contact information for assistance with scheduling an appointment and arranging for a ride to the vaccination site at SUNY Oneonta.
