DCJS Police Field Training Officer Course

This course teaches veteran officers how to train recruit officers during the Supervised Field Training, Orientation and Review component of the Basic Course for Police Officers with the goal to transition the recruit officer from the academy setting to a patrol assignment.
Prerequisite
- Active duty NYS certified police officer or peace officer.
DCJS Instructor Development Course

January 13 - 17 7 A.M. - 5 P.M.
$500.00
This course will provide participants with the ability to research, prepare and communicate knowledge in the field of law enforcement. Lessons will focus on developing instructional objectives and lesson plans, factors that influence adult learning, communication skills, the instructional process, and methods of evaluating course effectiveness. The Instructor Development Course is a prerequisite for other law enforcement instructor-related courses.
Prerequisite
- NYS Certified Peace or Police Officer /Civilian employees of law enforcement agencies with written departmental approval.
*Training will be held in the new Emergency Services Building and other facilities (TBD) on campus.
*On-site housing available for $50 while space is available.
*Individuals with felony convictions, or open warrants are ineligible.
