Glass Blowing Workshop Registration Options Available January-March Only
Please contact the Office directly at 607-436-2548 or via email to conted@oneonta.edu to let us know which type of workshop you're interested in and your availability that coincides with the type of workshop you'd like to sign up for. We will coordinate with the course instructor to get you the workshop that works for you!
Paperweight/Ornament Glass Blowing Workshop
In these competitively priced condensed 30-minute workshops, students will learn the very basics and experience glass blowing on a simple level. Workshops can be taken on an individual basis, or in small group classes of no more than 3 people, for safety purposes. This class will allow time for students to create a paper weight, or a holiday ornament. Artistic freedom is encouraged. Students aged 16 or older of all experience levels are welcome!
Safety Rules and Attire: Jeans and a cotton T-shirt/shirt, or long-sleeves, flat, closed toe shoes or sneakers, and hair tied back. No flowing clothes! The instructor will provide safety glasses, gloves, and other sleeves. It is recommended that students bring a water bottle or cool beverage for hydration!
If the above attire and rules are not adhered to, due to safety reasons, the artist/instructor reserves the right to cancel workshop.
Pick-up of finished glass items: Prompt arrival of agreed upon time and/or shipping can be provided for an additional cost.
When: Monday through Thursday afternoon and evening appointments are available on a first come first served basis and will be coordinated with the operation of the studio oven.

Fee: $70.00 per student. All materials included.

Small Vase/Tumbler/Cup Glass Blowing Workshop
In these competitively priced one-hour workshops, students will learn the very basics and experience glass blowing on a simple level. Workshops can be taken on an individual basis, or in small group classes of no more than 3 people, for safety purposes. students will learn the basics of glass blowing shop safety, tools, and terminology. Workshops will consist of hands-on experiences, allowing for students to make a small vase, tumbler, or a cup.
Basic hand tools used in the process and glassblowing terminology will be discussed. From there, students will learn to make their own unique one-of-a-kind creations. Artistic freedom is encouraged. Upon successful completion of either course, students will learn how to gather glass from a molten state, shape the glass and come home with a work of art and an awesome experience. Students aged 16 or older of all experience levels are welcome!
