As a SUNY Oneonta Night Host, you are a member of the Residential Experience and Housing Department with specific responsibilities. While on duty, you are the eyes and ears for Residence Life staff during late night hours. Your job is to notify RAs or the Residence Director if you notice anything that might disrupt the community or safety of students living within your residence hall. Night hosts and alternates are selected by the residence hall staff and trained by Residential Experience and Housing designees. The Residence Hall Director will serve as your immediate supervisor for the duration of employment.
To become a SUNY Oneonta Night Host you must be an enrolled SUNY Oneonta student, maintain a 2.25 GPA, have good community standards status, and reside within the building you work.
This is a great first step leadership position for any student. Contact your Residence Hall Director for further information after your arrival on campus.
Qualifications:
- A SUNY Oneonta student
- Maintain at least a 2.25 GPA
- Remain in good judicial standing
- Honor university policy and procedure
- Must reside in the building in which you work
Responsibilities:
- Log and report all incidents.
- Contact the RA on duty. University Police or Residence Hall Director whenever it is appropriate and necessary for the safety and security of the building and residents.
- Insure that the guests and visitors call their host from the call box and wait until the host arrives to escort them throughout the building.
- All guests and visitors must be signed in. Night Hosts should ask for proper identification and signed the guests in legibly.
