SUNY Oneonta encourages undergraduate student participation in research and creative activity across the academic disciplines, along with local, regional and national dissemination of such scholarship. The SUNY Oneonta Foundation raises and administers gifts and grants to enhance the academic status of SUNY Oneonta. Through generous gifts from Caroline '67 and David D'Antonio, an annual total of $30,000 has been made available to assist undergraduate and a limited number of graduate students with expenses incurred for professional travel.

Full- and part-time students in any academic discipline are eligible to apply for and receive awards for travel to professional conferences/meetings. Funding is not intended for travel related to fulfilling a course or program requirement, to study abroad, or to participate in other required coursework. (Conference travel related to independent study is eligible, particularly for presentation purposes.) Preference will be given to students presenting research or creative activity projects conducted with a faculty mentor(s), but this is not a requirement. However, all applicants must seek approval from a faculty sponsor prior to submitting an application (sponsors may be contacted for confirmation of support). Note: You must be enrolled as a SUNY Oneonta student at the time travel will take place in order to be eligible for this award.

Students traveling internationally who receive D'Antonio or STEP travel awards must complete the "Non-Credit International Travel" Office of Global Education (OGE) application in the OGE Global Portal to sign up for international health insurance as mandated by SUNY. After OGE "commits" them in the portal, students will be able to complete the required "next steps" forms. This MUST be completed at least one month prior to student travel. Contact globaled@oneonta.edu with any questions regarding the international health insurance program.

Requests for travel funding may not exceed $750 per student application (for group applications, please consult with Audrey Porsche prior to application). Expenses will be processed through a Research Foundation for SUNY (RF) account, fiscally administered by the Office of Research, Grants and Contracts. Successful student applicants must comply with all campus and RF travel and reimbursement guidelines and procedures, as well as other requirements specific to this fund. Details regarding such procedures will be included with notices of the award of travel funds. Failure to comply will result in loss of funding.
