Residential Experience and Housing Room Selection Info

2025-2026 Room Selection Process

Room Selection Information

The staff in the Department of Residential Experience and Housing is already working very hard to prepare for the 2025-2026 academic year. Room selection for the 2023-2024 academic year is starting soon, and we want to outline the process for you. The housing selection process will be as follows:

  • On February 3, you will receive an email with instructions for completing the housing profile in your room selection application. The deadline to fill out this form is March 19. Additionally, you can create roommate groups, or search for a roommate group to join, and you are able to indicate if you are requesting to live in any of our special interest housing options.
  • On March 20, you will receive an email that lets you know that your Room Selection Timeslot is available. Timeslots will be created based on the number of completed credit hours you have accumulated at the end of the Fall 2024 semester, meaning that seniors select first, then juniors, then sophomores, then first-years.
  • March 24-April 15; Room Selection will take place. During this time, you (or your group leader) will log into the housing system and select your actual rooms for next year. Once you select a room or a room is selected for you, no changes can be made.

Did you know that we will be offering a special interest housing option? Please visit our Special Interest Housing page to review these options!

A few items to note:

  1. All rising sophomores are required to live on campus for the 2025-2026 year to fulfill their 2 year on campus living requirement.

  2. Blodgett, Grant, Hays, Huntington, Macduff, and Matteson Hall will be available for selection for rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors for the 2025-2026 academic year. A floor of Hulbert Hall may be used as well for Break Housing returning students.

  3. Quad, Suite, and apartment style living are very popular with our returning students. Unfortunately, there are always a shortage of these types of units, so we suggest that you have a back-up plan (a quad and a double, 3 doubles near each other, etc.) in the event that there are no suites or apartments available at your appointment time.

  4. Ford, Golding, Hulbert, Littell, Tobey, and Wilber will be First Year Halls designated for Incoming First Year Students.

The Residential Experience and Housing Team will be hosting a Housing Selection Info Session with Littell, Wilber, Golding, and Hulbert Hall throughout the week of February 10 for required rising sophomores.

Please let us know if you have any questions regarding this process by reaching out via email to reslife@oneonta.edu or 607-436-2514.

By March 19:

Roommate group selection and verification needs to be completed before your room selection timeslot. Timeslot times will be available on March 20, and selection will begin on March 24.

  1. Log in to myOneonta using your Oneonta credentials.

  1. Locate the Housing Portal widget.

  1. Log into the Residence Life Housing Portal by clicking on the blue “Oneonta-Student SSO Login” button at the bottom of the page.

  1. Click on “Housing Application and Returning Student Room Selection” in the menu, or on the menu bar.

  1. Click on the blue “Apply” button next to “Academic Year 2025-2026” to enter the application.

  1. Proceed through the application by reviewing all the information you have already provided and clicking “Save & Continue” on each page.

  1. After the Residence Hall License Agreement page, you will reach the roommate groups page. From this page, you can:

    1. Create a roommate group including you and up to 5 requested roommates **It is important to note that while you will be able to create a roommate group of up to 6 total students, there are a limited number of units that will accommodate groups of 3-6 students. You are NOT GUARANTEED to be able to select a unit to house up to 6 students, based on the spaces available at your room selection timeslot. Given this information, you should make multiple plans for room selection. If there are no units available to accommodate your entire group, the group leader will be able to separate the group into different units during room selection.**

    2. Join a roommate group that has already been created by one of your requested roommates.

    3. Search for a roommate group that has been created.

    4. Search for roommates by details (ex, the requested roommate’s Screen Name)

    5. Search for roommates by Profiles, using the roommate matching questions you answered earlier in this application.

    6. Ask the portal to suggest roommates for you.

    7. Once your roommate group has been created and verified, all group members will receive a confirmation e-mail. No additional adjustments to your roommate group will be permitted once your group has been verified.
