This minor was developed to allow students that started, but are no longer pursuing a major in Education to have Education Studies as a minor on the transcript, as well as students that do not want to pursue an undergraduate education degree, but want courses to generally speak to education as they plan to move to a graduate degree that would be related (Ed Policy, Social Work, Counseling, Ed Psych, MAT in Teaching, etc.).
Core classes
All students would take the following:
- EDUC 1060
- EPSY 2075
- EDUC 3001
- EDUC 2089 OR EDUC 3017
(These classes are not already in the major)
Credit total: 12
Electives
Select any two:
- EDUC 2054
- EDUC 3053
(EDUC 2054 and 3053 are comparable courses between Secondary and Elementary, so Secondary focused students would take 2054 while Elementary focused students would take 3053 - or alternatively if the student is not previously enrolled in a major in Education they would be able to take either.) - EDUC 2046
- EDUC 3035
(EDUC 2046 and 3035 -same applies as above) - EPSY 3010
Any three credits with a EDUC, MTHE, ENED, FCSE, WLED, SCED, EPSY, SSED prefix at the 3000 or 4000 level (this allows students that have made it through Methods but pivot prior to or during student teaching between placements to count this class rather than take EPSY 3010).
