Glass Blowing Class Registration Options
Please contact the Office directly at 607-436-2548 or via email to conted@oneonta.edu to let us know which type of class you're interested in and your availability that coincides with the type of class you'd like to sign up for. We will coordinate with the course instructor to get you the class that works for you!
30 Minute Glass Blowing Class
In these competitively priced condensed 30-minute classes, students will learn the very basics and experience glass blowing on a simple level. This class will allow time for students to create a paper weight, or a holiday ornament. Artistic freedom is encouraged. Students age 16 or older of all experience levels are welcome!
When: Monday through Friday afternoon and evening appointments are available on a first come first served basis, and will be coordinated with the operation of the studio oven.
Safety Rules and Attire: Jeans and a cotton T-shirt/or long-sleeves, closed toe shoes or sneakers, and hair tied back. No flowing clothes. Safety glasses, gloves, and other sleeves will be provided by the instructor. It is recommended that students bring a water bottle or cool beverage for hydration!
If the above attire and rules are not adhered to, due to safety reasons, the artist/instructor reserves the right to cancel class.

Fee: $70.00 per student, per 30 minute time-slot. All materials included.
Class Size: Limited to 1 student per 30 minute time-slot for individual experience and personal safety purposes.

One-Hour and Two-Hour Glass Blowing Classes
In these competitively priced condensed one or two-hour classes, students will learn the very basics and experience glass blowing on a simple level. Classes can be taken on an individual basis, or in small group classes of no more than 3 people, for safety purposes. students will learn the basics of glass blowing: shop safety, tools, and terminology. Classes will consist of hands on experiences, where in a one-hour class, time will allow for students to make a tumbler, plate, bowl, or vase, and in a two-hour class, time will allow for students to make a plate, bowl, or several smaller items.
Basic hand tools used in the process and glassblowing terminology will be discussed. From there, students will learn to make their own unique one of a kind creations. Artistic freedom is encouraged. Upon successful completion of either course, students will learn how to gather glass from a molten state, shape the glass and come home with work(s) of art and an awesome experience. Students age 16 or older of all experience levels are welcome!
