Weather Alert: Jan. 24-26, 2026

Due to the anticipated significant impact of the winter storm forecasted for our region, classes will be canceled on Monday, Jan. 26. Please read below for information about campus operations this weekend into Monday.

Move-In

Students who have not yet returned for the Spring semester should plan to come back Saturday, Jan. 24. 

Saturday

  • At this time, activities and operations for different areas on campus plan to be held as scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 24.
  • NOTE: Extremely cold temperatures are forecasted for Oneonta and the entire state this weekend. Wind chills will make it feel as low as -25 degrees. Stay indoors as much as possible, follow cold weather safety tips, and take extra caution to prevent frostbite, hypothermia and other dangerous conditions.  

Sunday

  • The Governor has declared a State of Emergency for the duration of this storm. This means everyone should avoid unnecessary travel, prepare for severe snow and cold, and follow winter safety precautions.
  • Changes to activities or operating hours for campus spaces with regular hours on Sundays will be determined as we get closer and the timing of when the significant snowfall begins. We will post any cancelations, changes to operating hours, etc. on this page. Please check this regularly for updates.
  • Essential services will remain open on Sunday (University Police, Maintenance/Facilities Operations, etc.).
  • Dining Services plans to maintain regular hours for dining halls on Sunday. If the hours/operations for any venues change due to the weather, updated information will be posted on this page.

Monday

Classes & Campus Operations

  • Classes are canceled for Monday, Jan. 26, 2026.
  • All non-essential employees are instructed to telecommute for the entire workday where possible. Essential staff should report to work as directed.

  • Dr. MLK Jr. Commemoration & Community Breakfast - rescheduled to Thursday, Feb. 19
