CSRC making a difference through community service

A brand new Experiential Learning Center (ELC) opened this semester in the Hunt College Union, creating a bright, open space where students can learn about many of the hands-on learning experiences they can have at Oneonta.

Learn how to land an internship that will provide resume-worthy experience and the chance to "test drive " a career. Find out about the 1,000+ study abroad programs available through the SUNY network. Apply for grant funding to pursue a student research project or travel to a conference. Or learn how to make a difference through a community service or sustainability project.

The Career Development Center, Center for Social Responsibility and Community, Office of Global Education, and Student Research and Creative Activity office all are located in the first-floor ELC space, with the Office of Sustainability on the second floor.

Hands-on learning is a crucial part of the SUNY Oneonta experience.

  • More than 500 students perform credit-bearing internships every year.
  • Oneonta students devote 50,000+ hours in volunteer service each year through the Center for Social Responsibility and Community.
  • $100,000 in student grant funding is available annually to support student research and travel to conferences
  • Student study abroad opportunities range from week-long, faculty-led trips to a semester- or yearlong exchange program with one of our 13 international university partners.

These powerful experiences not only help our students discover what they really want to do, they provide the tools to succeed—whether that means launching a fulfilling career, or continuing their education.
