A significant winter storm and extremely cold temperatures are forecasted for the Oneonta area, Jan. 24-26. The Governor has declared a State of Emergency starting Sunday, Jan. 25. This means everyone should avoid unnecessary travel, stay indoors as much as possible, follow cold weather safety tips, refer to our winter safety reminders, and take extra precautions to prevent frostbite and hypothermia.
Move-In
Students who have not yet returned for the Spring semester should plan to come back on Saturday, Jan. 24.
Saturday
- At this time, activities and operations across campus will proceed as scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 24.
- This includes all orientation activities and athletic events.
Sunday
- At this time, Dining Services plans to maintain regular hours for dining halls on Sunday (Wilsbach, Mills, Marketplace, Starbucks).
- Hunt Union (& access to DragonExpress mailboxes): 10a.m. - 9 p.m. (at this time)
- Essential services will remain open (University Police, Maintenance/Facilities Operations, etc.).
- Check CampusConnection/CORQ to check the status of on-campus events.
Monday
Classes & Campus Operations
- Classes are canceled for Monday, Jan. 26, 2026.
- The State has directed that all non-essential employees should telecommute for the entire workday where possible. Essential staff should report to work as directed.
- At this time, Mills/Marketplace, Wilsbach, & Starbucks plan to maintain regular hours for dining halls on Monday. (There may be a chance food service will be consolidated to one location. Should that be necessary, we'll indicate it here.)

- Offices that will be closed for in-person services, but available remotely via Navigate, email or phone from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.:

Chase & Alumni Field House fitness centers: TBA - Essential services will remain open (University Police, Maintenance/Facilities Operations, etc.).
