Spanish Minor - SPAN

Students planning to complete requirements for this minor must make all arrangements with the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, 300 Schumacher, 607.436.3409. Note: the following courses or approved equivalents are prerequisites for entry into the minor: SPAN 101, 102, 103, 104. Students with prior study or knowledge should take the department placement exam. Effective Fall 2015

Language – complete BOTH of the following: (6 s.h.)

  • SPAN 202 Advanced Spanish Usage I
  • SPAN 203 Advanced Spanish Usage II

Civilization – complete ONE of the following: (3 s.h.)

  • SPAN 204 Civilization of Spain (Fall only) -or
  • SPAN 205 Civilization of Latin America (Spring only)

Literature Intro (3 s.h)

  • SPAN 208 Intro to Spanish Literature

Literature Surveys - Select ONE of the following: (3.sh.)

  • SPAN 311 Survey of Spanish Literature (Fall only) –or
  • SPAN 313 Survey of Spanish-American Literature (Spring only)

Spanish Elective – Select ONE of the following: (3 s.h.)

Any Upper Division Spanish course (200-399) not used above Note: no more than 3 s.h. of Spanish mini courses may count towards the minor

TOTAL 18 s.h.


NOTES:

1. College rules pertaining to curriculum majors also apply to curriculum minors

  • Minor GPA of at least 2.0
  • All courses must be taken for a letter grade unless offered Pass/Fail only
  • One-half (1/2) of the minor coursework must be completed in residence
  • No more than two courses may overlap between/among all majors/minors; any excess requires additional coursework
