Dorms and Dining

Students often say SUNY Oneonta “just feels like home.” It’s because our campus community is built to feel that way. With residence and dining halls arranged around classroom buildings and quads, it’s easy to get where your going – and chances are good that you’ll see at least one familiar face along the way.

Living on Campus

Experience comfortable, convenient and fun campus living in residence halls with fitness centers, kitchens, computer labs lounges, study spaces and free laundry. First-year students live in our welcoming First Year Experience (FYE) halls, designed to smooth your transition into college life. Make friends right away, get involved and thrive in a community that’s built for connection. 

Wilsbach Dining Hall

Wilsbach is one of Oneonta's two full-service dining halls. Here, you’ll find a variety of delicious options to choose from, including pasta, grain bowls, burgers, omelets, sandwiches and more! Wilsbach also has a plant-based food station with lots of yummy choices. Feel free to join in on one of our favorite weekly traditions: the ice cream sundae bar on Wednesday nights.

Mills Dining Hall

Mills is a full-service dining hall that features a variety of food to choose from, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options available daily. Mill's is also home to My Kitchen, a hands-on dining experience where you can prepare your own food, engage in cooking lessons and enjoy meals inspired by visiting chefs. All the ingredients needed to make your favorite salad, panini, pasta or stir fry dish are ready and waiting for you!

Alumni Hall

Alumni Hall got a major makeover in fall 2023 and is now the bright and airy home to our Business, Economics and Political Science departments as well as the Division of University Advancement. Features include our Bloomberg stock trading simulation room, small group study rooms, lounge study areas, and an entrepreneurial space where you can collab with classmates to come up with innovative ideas and business plans.

Fine Arts

Fine Arts is an inspiring hub of creativity and innovation, where students from various majors come together to nurture their artistic talents. If you're considering a major in Theatre, Music, Music Industry, Digital and Studio Art, or Art and Design, check out our two theaters, art galleries, music performance and practice rooms, and a full suite of art studio spaces.

Fitzelle

Fitzelle Hall is home to our Education, Africana and Latinx Studies, Mathematics, Computer Science and Statistics, Philosophy and Psychology departments. This bright and beautiful building has more than 20 classrooms and labs, cozy study nooks, and the Seasons Café, where you can grab a breakfast sandwich, yogurt bar creation or locally sourced soup or salad between classes.

Human Ecology

The Human Ecology Building is the hub for students pursuing majors in Dietetics, Fashion and Textiles, Human Development and Family Studies, and Food Service and Restaurant Administration. In addition to classrooms and lecture halls, you’ll find a child development center, fashion gallery, food presentation room paired with a commercial kitchen, and cutting-edge labs for cooking and sewing.

Milne Library

From tons of books to four floors of resources to help you learn, Milne Library is your go-to study space. On your way in, grab a snack or a beverage at Dragon Tea. Get tech support at IT Services or use one of the computer labs on the lower floor. On the first floor, work on a group project or pursue learning accommodations at Accessibility Resources. Visit the Student Learning Center on the second floor for tutoring, academic coaching and workshops. When you really need to focus, you can study in silence on the third floor, with beautiful views of the rolling hills that surround Oneonta. 

Perna Science

Perna Science is home to the departments of Biology and Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. Explore the cosmos in our cutting-edge planetarium, Step into our greenhouse or rooftop weather observation station for a hands-on learning experience. Or delve into the herbarium, a treasure trove of preserved botanical specimens, showcasing the rich history of plant diversity.

Physical Science

The Physical Science Building offers modern research and teaching spaces for the departments of Anthropology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, and Physics and Astronomy. Step into the world of cutting-edge research and teaching, with specialized labs, collaborative classrooms and an anthropology teaching gallery that allows students to work in a museum-quality space as part of their everyday courses.  These are close-knit departments with small classes and plenty of ways to make connections outside of class – including a spontaneous game of ping pong right down the hall from the Physics faculty offices!

Student Life

With more than 150 student clubs and thousands of campus activities each year, it’s easy to get involved and find your people and make connections that are built to last.

Alumni Field House

The Alumni Field House is your go-to spot for all things fitness and fun. Work up a sweat in our fitness center, indoor track, racquetball court or dance studio.  Check out the athletic training room, locker facilities, and the Red Dragon Field for soccer and lacrosse. Alumni Field House is also home to Dewar Arena, which can seat up to 5,000 people and hosts major events like Commencement and OH-Fest. 

Hunt Union

Think of Hunt Union as the Campus Living Room, with everyone's favorite: Starbucks. Check out the Thrift Store or pick up a package from home at Red Dragon Express. Get involved with the Student Association or challenge a friend to a game at the Dragon's Lair gaming room. Become the star of your own radio show at WONY, or chill by the dock on a warm day.

Fun Stuff

Science Discovery Center

Located inside the Physical Science Building, SUNY Oneonta’s Science Discovery Center features a variety of free, fun and interactive exhibits for visitors of all ages. It’s a great place to get hands-on experience through internships or campus jobs helping with school field trips and special events for the Oneonta community.

College Camp

Relaxation and adventure await you at College Camp! From fishing to basketball, mountain biking to snowshoeing, hiking to camping, there's something for everyone at this 276-acre haven just moments from the main campus. You can even walk there on a trail that connects with the upper part of campus. Whether you're seeking thrills or simply looking to unwind, the College Camp is a hidden gem.
