Spring 2020 FAQs

If you are planning to officially withdraw from all of your spring 2020 courses on or before Monday, March 30, consult with an academic and financial aid advisor before doing so. Withdrawing from all courses can negatively affect your spring 2020 aid.

Financial Aid may be impacted. A student may need to apply for a waiver or otherwise notify Financial Aid, and we will assist in reducing the impact on current and future aid. We have received guidance from both federal and state aid programs to offer leniency given the difficulties surrounding COVID-19.

No, changing your housing plans will not affect your financial aid as long as you continue your semester courses.  

Students who plan to continue their enrollment (online) for spring 2020 will not be affected regardless of where they live. This applies to Federal Pell Grants, FSEOG and Direct Loans.

SUNY Oneonta is currently developing a plan for Federal Work Study (FWS) students whom have actively worked and earned money during the Spring 2020 semester. Detailed information is forthcoming.

Your scholarships will not be affected if you plan to continue enrollment (online) for spring 2020.

Based on guidance received by HESC and the College, at this time, NYS Aid Programs for the spring 2020 term should not be substantially affected.  NYS aid recipients disrupted by COVID-19 should notify Financial Aid, Registrar, and Academic Advisement if they choose to drop a course or process a full withdrawal from courses.

Yes. If you are enrolled in at least 6 degree-applicable online credits for summer, we can still review and process aid for you.
