The Institute for Civil Society and Democracy advances civic engagement, civil discourse, and democratic learning through curricular development, research, community partnerships, and experiential education. It serves as a hub for faculty, students, and community members to work together in strengthening democratic values, dialogue, and practices.
Vision
In the tradition of disseminating scholarship as a public good, the institute will be a local and state influence on democratic education and civil society innovation, preparing students and community members to engage across difference, so that democratic institutions are strengthened and inclusive participation in civic life is fostered.
