It is CRITICAL that registered students follow the Leaves and Withdrawals process when pursuing a leave of absence or withdrawal from the university. Liability for tuition, fees and other charges is based on the date the leave or withdrawal process is completed. Simply not attending classes does not reduce or cancel liability.
Students withdrawing or taking a leave from SUNY Oneonta incur the liabilities listed below, according to the date the leave or withdrawal process is completed.
Full time students who drop a class(es) which results in less than full time status and a part time student who drop a class(es) incur tuition liability for the individual courses, based on the date of course withdrawal.
Tuition liability is based on a SUNY mandated schedule
The SUNY Oneonta Comprehensive Student Fee is non-refundable for withdrawals that occur on or after the first day of class.

Notice to students Receiving Federal Student Loans and Grants
Federal Regulations stipulate that eligibility for aid payments is earned based on class attendance. If you withdraw prior to the end of the term, the unearned portion of your aid must be returned.
Example: if you withdraw on the 10th day of a 100 day semester, you will be eligible to keep only 10% of your aid, and must return the other 90%. Your aid eligibility is NOT based on the amount of your liability for tuition, fees, room and dining charges.
