Overview
The Finance major gives students a strong foundation in financial theory, business management and industry-focused analytical tools. The program emphasizes corporate finance, investment and financial markets analysis, risk management, and financial modeling and analytics, as well as the application of these disciplines in global business settings.
What You'll Learn
The curriculum integrates experiential learning through case studies, business simulations and access to real-time market data to cultivate decision-making abilities, quantitative analytics skills and proficiency with industry-standard tools. Graduates will be well-positioned for entry-level jobs in the finance industry and for pursuing professional credentials such as the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
4+1 MBA and MS Programs
Finance students can earn an undergraduate degree from SUNY Oneonta and either an M.S. or an M.B.A degree from Rochester Institute of Technology or Clarkson University.

You’ll have lots of opportunities to learn by doing, in and outside of your classes. Our students manage an investment portfolio in collaboration with the University Foundation, prepare income tax returns through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, and do independent research with faculty mentors. Pitch your big idea at our start-up business competition. Or get an inside look at the global fintech world on a faculty-led trip to China.

Accreditation and Honor Society
SUNY Oneonta is accredited by AACSB International—the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. SUNY Oneonta has also received the Highest Honors chapter designation from. Each year, business students are inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma international honor society, joining a worldwide network of 750,000 students and alumni. Only students who rank in the top 10 percent of baccalaureate programs at schools accredited by AACSB International are eligible for membership.

Twelve Bloomberg terminals provide access to economic and financial data. Students can earn Bloomberg Market Concept certification.
