Early Childhood Program

The Bugbee Children's Center (previously known as the SUCO Children's Center) offers year-round child care services for children 8 weeks through school age. Currently, we have 2 infant classrooms, 2 toddler classrooms, 3 preschool classrooms and 1 school age classroom. The children in each room are similar in age. We are licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.

Hours of Operation

The Center operates between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Both full-time and part-time care is offered. The Center is closed on five national holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Subject to Board approval the Center is usually also closed Christmas week and the day after Thanksgiving. We close twice a semester for training at 3:00 p.m.

We welcome applications from all interested families! However, because of the support we receive from SUNY and specifically the College at Oneonta we operate from a priority waiting list for families affiliated with the College and State. This does not exclude other members of the community and we frequently accommodate requests for care from the broader community as space allows.

Tuition and Scheduling

A sliding fee scale has been developed based on household income. We do offer 10% sibling discounts. View our fee schedule.

Options for care include full-time (4 or 5 days per week, over 5 hours per day), part-time full days (over 5 hours per day up to 3 days), or part days (maximum 5 hours, 7:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., up to 5 days per week). The minimum enrollment is two part days per week. Fees are determined by chosen schedule.

If you are student concerned about the cost of care, you may be eligible for SUNY Federal Block Grant assistance. This program is designed to defray the cost of daycare to potentially as little as $30/week dependent on household income guidelines. For more information, please contact Becky Miller.

If you are a family that qualifies for Day Care Subsidy through Otsego and neighboring Counties, we do accept Day Care Subsidy. You must be approved for Day Care Subsidy with Proof of Coverage before you may start!

Do not hesitate to call and ask! (607-436-2484). If you would like to arrange a visit, we would ask that you call in advance to ensure we have someone available to give you the time you deserve to tour the Center and ask questions. Mornings between 9:30 and 12:00 generally work best to see our programming in full swing!

As you consider your daycare options you may have many questions about what a quality child care setting should offer. The Office of Child and Family Services has produced some excellent brochures to help you with your decision.
