Meet the Staff at Bugbee Children's Center

Becky

Becky Miller

My name is Becky Miller and I am the Director of Bugbee Children’s Center. I began my career in Early Childhood Education in May of 1993 when I graduated from the College of Wooster in Ohio with a Bachelors in Communication Sciences and Disorders and began working at Bugbee a week later. Throughout my almost 27 years of working at the Center I have been an Infant Teacher, Infant Lead Teacher and the Assistant Director.

I have 3 boys who keep me very busy with all of their sport and music activities. Shane is a Junior at Wilkes University, Ryan is a Senior at Oneonta High School and Jason is an 8th grader at Oneonta Middle School.

Here are a few things you may not know about me…
I love to watch the sunset on the beach and I strongly despise snow and being cold . Chocolate is a weakness and I will never eat brussel sprouts. I have never come across a roller coaster I am not willing to try at least once (all 3 of my boys take after me too). Finally, my kids tell me I take way too many pictures and that is a proven fact based on my Facebook page and that I have close to 15,000 pictures on my phone alone!

Jennifer Martin

Jennifer Martin

Hi, I’m Jenn Martin and I am the Assistant Director here at Bugbee. I graduated with an Associates degree in Early Childhood Education from SUNY Cobleskill. After graduation I moved to Florida and worked as a nanny for several years. I’ve worked at the center since 2000. Spending six years in preschool, six months in toddlers (not my cup of tea), ten and a half years in infants and now I'm enjoying my current position. I am a certified American Heart Association First Aid and CPR instructor teaching lots of classes here at Bugbee.

I’m often asked what I do when not at work. These days my answer is always the same, work on remodeling our new home. Mike and I bought a little farm and are very busy with making lots of updates. We have a small petting zoo with three cats, two dogs, a small herd of goats and several cows. I’m sure we will be adding more soon.

Shelly

Shelly McGovern

HI! My name is Shelly McGovern. After attending Cazenovia College for Early Childhood Education I was hired at Bugbee (the only job I’ve ever had)! Over the 30 years that I have been at the Center I was a Preschool TA for a short period, an Infant TA then Infant Teacher for many years. Finally a Toddler Teacher for over 15 years. I am a grown up who must touch, taste or smell everything I encounter, until something new catches my eye. This is why working with Toddlers is my perfect fit.

Outside of Bugbee I am the proud mom of two grown children, Jacob and Emily, both Bugbee Alumni. My husband and best friend Michael and I are currently enjoying being empty nesters who are avid hockey fans, food enthusiasts (both cooking and eating), and history nerds that could spend hours in museums.

Andrea

Andrea Saunders

I’m Andrea, Preschool Teacher in room 204. I have been working at Bugbee since 1997 and I have been in almost every classroom.

I’m from Northern Maine (Presque Isle) and settled in this area after graduating from SUNY Oneonta with a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary English Education. I did Masters work in Special Education at Saint Rose in Albany.

I have a daughter, Michaela who completed grad school at Penn State and has finished her CPA Exam. She is now an auditor for Price Waterhouse Coopers in Philadelphia. I love Chihuahuas, guinea pigs and Candy Crush!

Karimah

Karimah Kahrs

Hi my name is Karimah Kahrs, I graduated from South Kortright Central School. I work as a Assistant in the Infant room.

When I’m not at work I watch a lot of Netflix and just hang out with my boyfriend Joe, friends and family. When it’s warm enough I like to go fishing. I also love playing with my dog Daisy.

Kelly

Kelly Whitehead

My name is Kelly Whitehead. I am a Teacher in one of Bugbee’s classrooms. After Graduating from SUNY Cobleskill in 2009 with a BA in Early Childhood Education I worked at a local daycare then at Springbrook for a while. I have been at Bugbee since December 2014.

I married my “long lost friend” Doug in June of 2013. We have 2 children, Katlynn and D.J.

In my limited free time I enjoy crocheting (especially gifts for other people) and scrapbooking. As a family we enjoy feeding the ducks at Fly Creek Cider Mill and spending time with the kids’ Grandparents.

Marni

Marni Przekop

Hi, my name is Marni Przekop. I received my Liberal Arts degree from Broome Community College in 1992, while working at the Campus Preschool at Binghamton University. I have been here at Bugbee since 2003. For the last 9 years I have been working in room 204 with our 4 year olds helping them to prepare for kindergarten. I have been married for 19 years to my husband, Bob. We have 4 furbabies, Jasper (the cat) a, Lincoln, Tika, Jax and Penny (the Akitas). I often find myself talking to my dogs like I talk to the children at work (telling them to make good choices)!

I enjoy family and friend time, pumpkin spice coffee, reading and listening to country music.

Rose Flannery

Rose Flannery

I am Rose Flannery and I am currently working with the infants. I am the unofficial plant specialist. I started working at Bugbee in 2006 as a temporary substitute with the Infant Team. I have been a part of the Full Time Staff for the past 17 years. Prior to Bugbee, I worked in the tableting/encapsulation department of the former DM Graham Labs for 14 years. I earned an AAS degree from SUNY Delhi and a BA in History from Binghamton University. I live in Oneonta. In my downtime I enjoy reading science fiction and fantasy novels and visiting new places. Two of the most interesting places I explored were a non-operational coal mine in Pennsylvania and the Eastern State Penitentiary.

Vickie

Vickie Trammel

My name is Vickie Trammel and I grew up in Greene, NY. I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from SUNY Oswego. I started my long journey in child care back at the Oswego Campus Day Care Center, working with toddlers. As I moved through life I continued working in daycare centers in New York, Rhode Island and Virginia, mostly with infants and toddlers. Glassboro, New Jersey found me working in Kindergarten and 5th and 6th grade Special Education. We moved to Laurens and I started working here at Bugbee since 2013. I am currently working in one of the Preschool rooms.

I have a husband, daughter, two horses and a cat. I like to go to yard sales, mow lawn and read. I am “technologically challenged” and I am OK with that. I totally believe Ketchup is a necessity.
