Every Monday through Friday throughout the academic year, a dozen enthusiastic SUNY Oneonta students gather in the Hunt Union and begin calling alumni and parents throughout the country.
The Phonathon is comprised of a team of 20 students from all majors and backgrounds who reach out to over 50,000 members of the SUNY Oneonta community over the course of a year. The student callers are there to provide updates about what's happening on campus, answer questions that alumni and parents may have about SUNY Oneonta, update contact information, and ask for support for the Fund for Oneonta.
Through this experience, our callers find out firsthand from alumni what their college experience was like, and may even get advice about career paths. They also solicit feedback from parents about their children's experience at Oneonta. They sharpen their communication skills while teaching others about the importance of philanthropy.
We hope you will “answer the call” the next time you see SUNY Oneonta on your caller ID!
