Digital and Studio Art (BS)
If you’re planning to major in Digital and Studio Art, you can make your application stand out through our Special Talent Review. This optional supplement to your application for admission to the university lets you showcase your creative abilities and have your artwork considered as part of the admissions process.
Show us your creativity and potential! To take advantage of the Digital and Studio Art Special Talent Review, you’ll submit a short statement about your artistic interests, experiences, and commitment to the program, along with one letter of recommendation from a teacher who knows your artistic strengths. You’ll also share 12–15 images of your artwork. These can include drawings, paintings, photography, sculpture, ceramics, digital design, animation or other media.
When reviewing your submission, we look for creativity, curiosity, craftsmanship, and a strong presentation that highlights your unique artistic voice.
Art and Design (BFA)
Applicants to SUNY Oneonta’s Art and Design BFA program must submit a portfolio demonstrating creativity, craftsmanship and artistic potential. Your portfolio should include 10 high-quality images of your best work (2D, 3D, or time-based), a numbered list with details for each piece, and a 200-word personal statement describing your artistic background and commitment to the program.
All work must be original and submitted electronically through your application status page. Portfolios are evaluated on creativity, curiosity, skill, growth potential and presentation.
Students not initially accepted into the BFA may begin in the Digital and Studio Art BS program and reapply to the BFA program after their first semester. Space in the BFA program is limited, so early submission is encouraged.
