Student Bills & Payment

Fall 2026 semester bills will be available in myOneonta beginning July 7. Students will receive an email notification when the bill is ready to view.

The payment deadline is August 10, 2026.

Depending on your situation, your bill may include:

  • Tuition
  • Comprehensive Fee
  • Orientation Fee (first semester only)
  • Housing
  • Meal Plan
  • Any optional Dragon Dollars you choose to add

Financial aid, deposits, and payments will appear as credits.

Not necessarily. Your financial aid award estimates your total cost of attendance. Your student bill will only include charges that apply to you. Commuter students should only be billed for tuition and applicable fees.

Yes. Parents or family members may each make separate payments toward the student's balance.

Yes. Credit cards are accepted, and there is no additional credit card fee.

Installment Payment Plan

Yes. The Oneonta Installment Plan allows you to divide your remaining semester balance into three equal payments.

There is a one-time enrollment fee of $22.50 per semester.

You must submit a FAFSA every academic year.

The 2027–28 FAFSA is expected to become available on October 1, 2026.

No. SUNY Oneonta grants and scholarships are accepted automatically.

Yes. Students must accept or decline their federal loans through myOneonta.

Yes. Contact the Financial Aid Office or your assigned financial aid advisor, and your loan acceptance can be updated.

No. While you are encouraged to make your decision as soon as possible, the notification deadline is not a hard deadline.

Apply as soon as you've decided you'll need one so it has time to process before your bill is generated.

The amount depends on your financial need and federal borrowing limits. Contact the Financial Aid Office if you need help determining the appropriate amount.

The Financial Aid Office can review your application and help you adjust the amount if necessary.

TAP & Excelsior

Complete your TAP application after submitting the FAFSA.

Typically about one week, although processing times can vary.

The deadline is August 31, 2026.

Your financial aid offer in myOneonta will update from Estimated to Confirmed once processing is complete.

Scholarships

Send the Financial Aid Office:

  • A copy of the scholarship notification
  • Your SUNY Oneonta student ID number
  • The scholarship amount

No. Financial Aid can often place the scholarship on your account before the payment arrives.

Generally, no. If adjustments are necessary, loan amounts are reduced before institutional scholarships.

529 College Savings Plans

Contact your 529 plan administrator after your bill becomes available and request payment to SUNY Oneonta using your student ID number.

Most payments arrive within approximately 10 business days.

Yes. Add Dragon Dollars during the billing process, then request the total amount from your 529 plan.

Dragon Dollars

Dragon Dollars are optional funds you add to your student ID that can be used like a debit account for:

  • Campus dining
  • Red Dragon Outfitters
  • Participating off-campus businesses
  • Books and supplies

Declining Balance is included with your meal plan and can be used at campus retail dining locations.

Yes. Dragon Dollars are optional.

You can add them during the online billing process.

Meal Plans

All new residential students are automatically enrolled in the unlimited meal plan.

Generally, first-year students remain on the standard unlimited plan. Other options become available for eligible upper-class students.

Parents & Billing Access

Yes. Students can invite parents or other family members to become authorized payers after the bill is available.

Refunds

Any remaining credit balance is refunded to the student after all eligible aid has been applied to the account.

Student Employment

That's okay. You may decline Work-Study and still pursue other campus employment opportunities.

Federal Work-Study funding is limited each year and is not guaranteed, but many eligible students receive it again.

Yes. Many departments hire students through temporary service positions. Job opportunities are posted in Handshake.

Applications typically open during the spring semester for positions beginning the following fall.

Changes to Your Financial Situation

Contact your assigned Financial Aid Advisor. Changes such as job loss, legal separation, or significant income changes may qualify for a financial aid review.
