Our department is based in the Hodgdon Instruction Resource Center building, or HIRC for short. We offer state-of-the-art production facilities including studios, control rooms, a newsroom and access to reserve lighting and recording equipment to practice your new skills.
OnNY Community Media Lab
Our OnNY Community Media Lab is a real newsroom where students learn to report, edit and produce stories, just like working journalists. The lab—which boasts computer and collaborative workspaces and large mounted televisions—also serves as the home base for Oneonta’s iteration of the SUNY Institute for Local News, which seeks to strengthen local reporting while building student portfolios.
Studio Spaces and Control Rooms
Our studio spaces—including Studio A, Studio B, and full control rooms—offer full green-screen and cyclorama setups, multi-camera HD production, and lighting gear so nothing limits your creative vision.
Sports and Event Production
Whether in the Alumni Field House or on location, students use live-stream units, specialty cameras, jibs, and dolly tools to capture events and sports with professional quality, including instant replay technology.
Editing Suites
Record voice-overs, interviews, and more in sound-proof booths and production rooms equipped with industry-standard audio boards and Adobe Audition. Our non-linear edit suites, Mac labs, and software including Final Cut, Premiere Pro, After Effects and the Adobe CS suite let students edit, color, animate and produce polished media.
Reserve Equipment and Tools
From 4K DSLR cameras and cine-lenses to gimbals, lighting kits, and even drones, we've got the hardware to bring your creative ideas and vision to life, and you can rent it for free!
