Kavon Ward (2003)

Kavon Ward was selected from a national applicant pool to work at the Washington D.C. office of U.S. Congressman Albert Wynn as a Legislative Fellow. Kavon was a former BAI mentee (The Black Achievers in Industry Mentor Program) and the 1999 Youth Achiever of the Year. She addressed the BAI Mentor Program participants at the annual Linkage Breakfast in October 2006. Kavon received her Master of Public Administration Degree from John Jay College in May 2007.

Shanel Murray (2002)

Shanel Murray has been an IT healthcare professional for over two years. She has made two trips to Tanzania, Africa over a six-month period and has established a blog to fully capture her adventures and reflect her thoughts. During the second trip, Shanel worked with a local Non-governmental Organization on healthcare and education policy initiatives for women and children.

Glenn is a 2002 Art/Computer Art graduate of SUNY Oneonta and received his Master of Arts in Public Policy from SUNY Stony Brook in 2005. Glenn was elected to the Alumni Association Board of Directors on February 2, 2008. He is currently enrolled at SUNY Albany pursuing his Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration and is a Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Educational Administration and Policy Studies. He is currently employed as an EOP Counselor at SUNY Oneonta.

Leandro Cabrera (1993)

Leandro Cabrera (1993)

After serving as an Oneonta EOP summer orientation staff member, Leandro was hired as an Assistant Director of Student Services at Eugene Lang College, and later worked at the New School University. There he was promoted to become the first Coordinator of University Student Life due to his outstanding performance. Eventually moving on, Leandro started his new career at Sensación. There his marketing and advertising experience ranged from promotional events to specialty publishing that targeted US Latino males for major national campaigns. During the 2002 World Cup, Leandro and his team launched the largest and most successful national Latino sports title, Fútbol Mundial magazine. For the next phase of his career, Leandro accepted a position in the newly created International division at Gap Inc. In 2008 he was transferred to an expatriate position for Gap Japan KK, the Japanese division of Gap Inc., as the Production Manager. Leandro also is actively involved with alumni activities, and was elected to the EOP Alumni Steering Committee in 2007.

Edward "Bo" Whaley (1973)

Edward "Bo" Whaley (1973)

Bo Whaley retired after serving EOP for 27 years. He was awarded the 14th Annual Thurgood Marshall Unity Award by the Oneonta Chapter of the NAACP in 2008. He was honored at the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. remembrance ceremony on Sunday, January 20th. Each year the award is given to members of the community for their outstanding contributions to civil rights.
