Liberal Arts Biology Track
The Liberal Arts Biology track is a balanced program providing groundwork across the range of biological subfields. Students are required to explore one aspect of biology more thoroughly through research, internships or immersion courses, and can take upper-level electives from any sub-field of biology. This is the track typically selected by biology majors whose interests in the biological sciences are broad.
Biomedical Sciences Track
The Biomedical Sciences track is designed for students interested in continuing their education in professional medical programs (MD, PA, etc.), and graduate programs (biomedical research, physiology, etc.). This track combines many of the courses that are required for entry into these programs with coursework that will help students be more competitive in these programs. Students can take a range of coursework, from anatomy and physiology, to endocrinology and parasitology. Students are required to gain hands-on experience through internships and research experiences.
Cell & Molecular Biology Track
The Cell & Molecular Biology track focuses upper-level coursework on the theory and methods used to examine intra- and extra-cellular processes. Coursework ranges from cell biology and microbiology to animal physiology and endocrinology. Students are required to gain hands-on experience through research experiences and internships. This track prepares students for graduate work and entry-level positions in sub-fields such as microbiology, biomedical engineering, cancer biology and molecular biology.
Ecology & Conservation Biology Track
The Ecology & Conservation Biology track focuses upper-level coursework on ecology, conservation and evolutionary biology. Electives range from stream ecology and conservation biology to dendrology and underwater research methods. Students are required to gain hands-on experience through research experiences, internships or intensive field courses. This track prepares students for graduate work and entry-level positions in sub-fields such as aquatic ecology, conservation, botany, wildlife conservation, molecular ecology and systematics.
