SUNY Oneonta’s Department of Secondary Education and Educational Technology offers 10 Adolescence Education bachelor’s degree programs and an online M.S.Ed. in Educational Technology. With a curriculum blending general, content and professional education, our programs prepare students to become effective, well-rounded middle and high school teachers.

Dual Major
Substitute Teaching Program
Through partnerships with ONC and DCMO BOCES, SUNY Oneonta students can substitute teach in local schools, gaining paid, hands-on experience with children of all ages.
Student Opportunities
In addition to formal field experience in area schools, you’ll have many opportunities to practice your teaching strategies, including service-learning activities and leading workshops for area middle school students during the Catskill Area School Study Council’s enrichment seminar series. A capstone student teaching experience will give you additional hands-on learning to prepare for your own classroom in Grades 7–12.
