Your First-Year Experience (FYE) program is designed to support you during your transition from high school to college. FYE fosters participation and community development in co-curricular events such as our common read, where incoming first-year students read the same diversity-related book that is discussed in fall courses; guest lectures; large-scale programming events and FYE traditions.

Our FYE program involves both the residential and the programmatic; it is a true collaboration between Residence Life staff and Office of Student Experience staff. All of our new students will have a Resident Assistant and a Dragon Guide to guide them in the transition to the SUNY Oneonta community.

All of our residence halls include:

  • WiFi, Spectrum U streaming TV service, and telephone service at no additional cost;
  • free laundry facilities in each residence hall, featuring “Laundry View” so you know when your washer or dryer has finished;
  • recreational lounges;
  • computer lab with printers;
  • individual and group study space;
  • fitness center; and
  • kitchens.

Gender-inclusive options are available upon request.
