The 2017-18 academic year is off to a great start! The college welcomed a new president, Dr. Barbara Jean Morris, and more than 1,900 freshmen and new transfer students.
Escorted by Red, the college mascot, Dr. Morris led the Class of 2022 in the Pass Through the Pillars celebration the night before the first day of classes. During this well-loved college tradition, freshmen and new transfer students walk as a group between the pillars of Old Main, the college’s first building, with returning students, faculty and staff cheering them on.
From volunteering to help lug boxes on freshman move-in day to greeting old and new friends at our opening day picnic, the campus community turned out to celebrate the start of the year and make our new students feel welcome!
