Communication Studies Minor

The Communication Studies Minor is a good selection for students in other majors who feel that their professional options would be increased with a demonstrated knowledge of the process of human communication, argumentation, persuasion, and public presentations. This minor is designed for students interested in a general communication background to compliment a wide variety of other majors. This minor is closed to Communication Studies majors. Students planning to complete the requirements for this minor must fill out the appropriate paperwork with Academic Advisement. You must take six courses in order to fulfil a Communication Studies Minor. Please see requirements below.

1. University rules pertaining to curriculum majors also apply to curriculum minors

  • Minor GPA of at least 2.0
  • All courses must be taken for a letter grade unless offered Pass/Fail only
  • One-half (1/2) of the minor coursework must be completed in residence
  • No more than two courses may overlap between/among all majors/minors; any excess requires additional coursework

  • MCOM 151 Understanding Mass Communication
  • MCOM 152 Media Writing (MCOM 252 Writing for Radio, Television, and Film)
