Distinguished Service Professor Gretchen Sorin ’75 and The Cooperstown Graduate Program (CGP) were recently recognized with an American Bar Association Silver Gavel Award for producing the documentary “Driving While Black: Race, Space and Mobility in America” alongside renowned filmmaker Ric Burns and Steeplechase Films.
The State University of New York Board of Trustees today appointed Alberto J.F. Cardelle as president of SUNY Oneonta. The appointment was announced by the SUNY Board of Trustees and SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras, and is effective on Sept. 6, 2021.
The city of Oneonta’s second annual Juneteenth commemoration event on Saturday, June 19, was a colorful celebration of Black and African culture featuring a handful of talented SUNY Oneonta students and alumni who performed and helped organize the festivities.
A year ago, Bainbridge, NY, native Bethany Shaw wasn’t particularly invested in the red-backed salamander, a small, hardy woodland creature whose scientific name is Plethodon cinereus. Today, she is the attentive caretaker of 120 of the tiny, reddish brown salamanders, and she even has a favorite.
Associate Professor of Meteorology and Climatology Dr. Melissa Godek received the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching; Director of Campus Activities and Leadership William (Bill) Harcleroad received the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service; and Interim Coordinator of the Teaching, Learning, and Technology Center Chilton Reynolds received the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service. Ed Beck, instructional designer in the Teaching, Learning and Technology Center, has earned a 2021 SUNY Faculty Advisory Council on Teaching & Technology (FACT2) Excellence Award for Instructional Support.
