Through the IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, 17 students were extensively trained and are available through April 13 to provide free basic tax return preparation and filing for SUNY Oneonta students and employees. The initiative is also open to area residents, but they must qualify for VITA, and the team is only accepting simple tax returns at this time.

The war in Ukraine became more than just a headline for SUNY Oneonta students, staff and community members who attended a powerful on-campus panel discussion Thursday that let attendees hear from four Ukrainian professors whose lives have been turned upside down.

Masks are welcomed and encouraged on campus but are no longer required in the majority of indoor spaces for students, employees, or visitors, including those attending meetings, events or athletic competitions, or visiting storefronts like Starbucks.

Mohawk Valley Community College and SUNY Oneonta signed an agreement on March 21, 2022, that extends an existing agreement between the two colleges and creates a cohesive pathway for students to complete all their requirements to become professionally certified to teach grades 1-6 in New York State.

SUNY Oneonta's Biological Field Station has been awarded a five-year, $2.2-million contract to expand the Catskill Regional Invasive Species Partnership (CRISP) Watershed Steward Program (WSP).
The CRISP WSP aims to halt the spread of aquatic invasive species (AIS) that have the potential to devastate local waterbodies by providing free inspections of watercraft and equipment at boat launches and fishing access sites throughout the greater Catskill region.
