More than 50 SUNY Oneonta students have joined forces in an effort to spread the word about the availability of COVID vaccinations to communities across Otsego County. 
 
The students, recognizing the need for additional outreach in areas where internet access isn’t readily available, rallied together to distribute flyers to those who may need assistance with registering for a vaccine. The flyers share contact information for assistance with scheduling an appointment and arranging for a ride to the vaccination site at SUNY Oneonta.

Nineteen area middle- and high-school students recently participated in SUNY Oneonta’s Go STEM Institute, which was virtual this year. Students in grades 7-12 from Oneonta, Worcester, Davenport, Fly Creek, Cooperstown and New Berlin took part in the week-long science program, which took place in mid-February and focused on the physics of sound and electricity.

This February, more than 40 SUNY Oneonta students had the opportunity to connect with well-established alumni in their chosen fields of study despite being in the midst of a pandemic, thanks to the Alumni Association’s virtual adaptation of annual networking programs. These “Campus to Careers” virtual sessions were an extension of more than 22 networking events held during the fall semester. There have been eight sessions held so far this semester, and 18 more are planned, with more than 30 alumni scheduled to participate

SUNY Oneonta Distinguished Professor Gretchen Sullivan Sorin '75 is a finalist for a 2021 NAACP Image Award in the category of Outstanding Literary Work – Non-Fiction for her book Driving While Black (W. W. Norton & Company). The 52nd NAACP Image Awards ceremony will air live on BET March 27 at 8 p.m.

SUNY Oneonta was recently named one of the top 50 “Most Affordable Colleges” in the United States by Intelligent.com. The college was also highlighted for its small classes.
