Students from 28 SUNY colleges and universities presented their research and creative activity projects during the SUNY Undergraduate Research Conference (SURC) on Friday, April 20, at SUNY Oneonta.
Four SUNY Oneonta seniors are among 249 State University of New York students chosen to receive the 2018 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence. SUNY Chancellor Kristina M. Johnson presented the awards to the students during a reception in their honor Tuesday, April 10, at the Albany Capital Center.
SUNY Oneonta’s criminal justice program is one of the best in New York, according to Zippia, a career planning site that uses data from the National Center for Education Statistics and College Scorecard.

SUNY Oneonta was included in Zippia’s list of “10 Best Colleges for Criminal Justice Majors in New York,” a ranking that considered career outcomes, criminal justice emphasis, cost of attendance and amount of debt, among other factors.
Fifteen SUNY Oneonta students enrolled in Political Science 280 participated in the 2018 National Model United Nations Conference in New York City from March 18 to 22. The Oneonta delegation represented the country of Malaysia and earned an Honorable Mention award for remaining in character, participating in committee and properly using the rules of procedure.
SUNY Oneonta’s Science 1 building will be named the “Janet R. Perna Science Building” in recognition of a distinguished alumna who has announced that she will give $5 million to the State University College at Oneonta Foundation.
