Employee On-line Training Program

The College is pleased to announce that it has contracted with Thomson Reuters, a Compliance Learning company, to provide online training, on topics required by law, to all SUNY employees, on an annual basis. Open the links below for details.

We are very pleased to share with you that the College has continued to contract with Thomson Reuters, an established compliance training company, to provide  online training modules for programs required by Federal and State law to be presented to all State employees on an annual basis.

Providing this training in a simple, online format provides a multitude of advantages for employees including but not limited to, completing the courses at a time convenient for the individual employee, completing the courses in short units of time, and, in most cases, in employees own work areas.

The four training modules that we will be giving in the online forum are listed below. The name of the campus representative responsible for ensuring compliance with that particular subject matter is printed under the name of each module:

• Internal Controls Essentials Ms. Susan Clemons, Controller

It is expected that employees will receive an email this week providing instructions on how to complete the training. SUNY Oneonta is required by federal and state mandates to provide employees with annual training about topics that include health, safety, and employment-related issues.

To facilitate the opportunity for employees to receive and complete the training, the College has contracted with Thomson Reuters, an established compliance training company, to provide the training in an online format.

The four training modules that we will be provided in the online forum in 2018 are as follows:

  1. Preventing Discrimination and Harassment

Roll-out of this program will begin the week of February 12, 2018. Employees will receive an automatically generated email in their Oneonta.edu mailbox that will include information on how to complete the training modules. The subject line will include the words “Required Training”. Please check your “Clutter” email folder and other email repositories if you do not see the email in your inbox.

The window of opportunity for employees to complete the courses will be approximately 3 months ending Friday, May 11, 2018.

Reminder emails will be sent out automatically on a periodic basis to employees who have not yet completed the training modules. The second and final reminder email will be copied to employees’ supervisors.

FAQs:

Q: How often do I need to complete this training?

A: This training needs to be completed once each year for as long as you are employed by SUNY. It is necessary to complete the training annually for several reasons, including:

  • As your employer, we are required to provide such training annually.
  • Changes to the laws occur and updates are made.
  • Your work/position may change and the relevancy of each topic/your perspective may change.
  • Repetition helps us remember.

Q: Do I need to complete all the courses at once?

A: No. You can start, stop and return at a later time to where ever you stopped.

Q: What is my user name?

A: Your user name is your SUNY Oneonta work email address.

Q: What is my password?

A: Your password is your last name.

Q: What should I do if I need to reset my password?

A: If you need to reset your password, contact Gail Feuer in Human Resources at x2509.

Q: Why am I getting so many emails?

A: Emails sent regarding this training are as follows:

Announcement: One email is sent to all employees to announce the annual online training will occur.

Assignment: One email is sent to all employees listing all 4 courses that need to be completed along with instructions about how to access the courses.

1st Reminder: Approximately 30 days after the assignment email, each employee will receive one email for each course not yet completed. If you did not complete any of the courses, you will receive 4 emails. This is necessary for administration of employees’ progress with the coursework.

2nd/Final Reminder: Approximately 30 days after the 1st reminder email, each employee will receive one email for each course still not completed. In addition, these emails will be copied to the employees’ supervisors. In this manner, supervisors can easily determine who may need assistance completing the coursework.
